Google Adsense EFT Payments For South Africa
- 36 Comment
Google Adsense EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) payments have been unavailable for South African publishers thus far. It is nice to receive a cheque every month in the post from Google as part of the Adsense program but first we have to wait for the cheque to arrive and then for it to clear, which we all know isn’t overnight with our wonderful South African banking systems.
As I type this post, the latest countries to receive the EFT payment option are Hungary and Hong Kong – See Here. And here’s a list of countries in which Electronic Funds Transfer for Adsense is currently supported.
Now I am quite sure that Google will get around to introducing EFT payments to SA but I was thinking maybe if everyone got together we could have some kind of influence in requesting this a bit sooner for us.
So here’s what I have in mind:
If you are a Google Adsense publisher from South Africa that would make use of the EFT payment system when available would you please be so kind as to leave a brief comment below this post? We’re really just looking for the numbers here so no need for long winded comments or opinions on why you might think Google will never do this for South Africans. Just something like “Yes I’m in” would be enough.
If you know of anyone besides yourself that maybe willing to put there name in, please send them over. (Oh yes, this is not some marketing link baiting scheme in an effort to try and boost the blog’s traffic. I feel this may be of genuine interest to many South African Adsense publishers).
Let’s give it a few weeks or so and providing there is enough response here (not sure what “enough” is yet) then I will drop the Google Adsense Team a quick mail requesting they have a look at the interest and if they would consider introducing the EFT payment option for South African publisher’s sooner.
Gotta be worth a try ay?
Justin.

Receiving a Google cheque was really exciting the first couple of times, but now it’s just annoying having to head into the bank to make a deposit. I would love to be paid electronically by Google!

Worth a shot.
But i guess companies dont like SA. Just yesterday Amazon announced it wont send stuff to SA anymore because of it getting stolen at the Post office. So because of the South African post office theft we have to pay R420 extra if you want something from Amazon.
Anyway.
Its worth a shot as I said.

Oh yes – and if we could swing PayPal and SARS as well to allow us to withdraw our funds into local accounts.

Same here, would be great for an EFT option – arent Google setting up (or set up) shop in Za? Surely Adsense would be a part of their duties?

Thanks for participating Naeem.
There were some rumors about Google setting up in SA a while back, I’m not sure how close to the truth they were or if anything happened.

Absolutely, it is painly having to wait for the cheque and then que in the banking hall to put in your deposit that takes 4-5 days to clear.

Count me in as well.
I don’t make much, just two checks in a year. Before I ask Google to release my check i have to make sure I have made enough to pay for the courier company that handles the check
By the time i get the money it is a far cry from what I am supposed to have made. I am assuming ofcourse that EFT charges will be much much cheaper than the third party charges.

Hi Quincy, Thanks for joining us
Yeh, EFT will be cheaper but it sounds from your comment like you may have selected to have your cheque’s delivered by “Secured Express Delivery” which costs an extra $24.00.
If so, why don’t you just change it to “Standard Delivery”?
This can be changed in your Adsense Panel – My Account – Payment Details [edit].I get mine by the standard delivery, they have always arrived and even if they don’t, you may request a re-issue.

A great initiative. I am not from SA, but from Tunisia (The most northern Africa
) and we have the same problem as you guys have.
When I first received a cheque from Google, it tool 3 weeks to arrive and then 3 more weeks to clear. And after the bank fees, what remained wasn’t what I actually earned.
So I might get inspired for this initiative to ask Google for EFT for Tunisia. It would be way easier.June 24th, 2008 at 12:47 pm -

Well, I’m closing this, fair amount of traffic but not enough feedback by far. Think I’d just make a fool of myself approaching google with such few comments
Makes me think that there may not be too many of us earning regular cheques from the adsense program which I find surprising considering the gaps and opportunities available here in SA.
Any way, thanks again to you guys that did comment I appreciate your time.

I am about to setup my adsense account, already got my info. I would LOVE for that option to happen, so taht SA can FINALLY get to where the rest of the world is! The cheque thing really sounds inconvenient, and being a starter, I probably won’t have much left after all the fees, etc.

Yes, I’m in – Life would be much easier! – Today I started to investigate the possibility of opening an offshore account with lloyds tsb to enable eft – but not sure of the outcome yet – it seems that such a transaction would set you back around R300 per deposit. Lloyds tsb charges R105 per deposit over $100, then another R100 to transfer to local bank account and another R100 fee when received from foreign account to local.

Absa now offers Western Union and Adsense pays via Western Union in some countries. Even that would be better than a cheque. EFT would be ideal. Btw, if u cash it at absa, all u need is a stamp on the back of the cheque, fill in your contact details and deposit into your account. No forms to fill in.
