As I was sipping on yet another cup of steaming hot coffee yesterday I got to thinking of why people like myself spend hours, days, months and years in front of a monitor typing, learning, implementing, tweaking, testing, failing, succeeding, crying and laughing all for making some decent cash on the Internet instead of the few dollars a month many people settle for.

• You have no boss – This is the biggest one for me after working for some assholes
• You can work naked – May appeal to some ay?
• You earn an income that can only grow as you nurture it
• You earn money in your sleep
• You earn money while you eat
• You earn money while you surf (in the sea that is and completely personal)
• You can travel and work anywhere in the world with a laptop
• You can earn money in dollars or pounds (a real bonus when living in South Africa)
• You can avoid the taxman (I never said that)
• You don’t have to deal with other people or difficult customers

Of course there is still a lot of discipline required when making a living online and it really does need to be treated similar to any other business to be truly successful but once you’ve cracked it and start earning a regular income it can become one of the most rewarding and exciting businesses to run.
