Most Work From Home Programs Are A Scam
It is possible to work from home on the Internet, in fact I do, but I have never had to join a program that promised me great fortune and neither should you. In fact a surprising majority of these are nothing more than scams that make nobody any decent money except the con artists that claim you can get rich using them. To name and shame is not my game (excuse bad poetry) but all too many of these make money online scams will promise you the world and more than likely deliver you nothing!
Work from home scams will usually need you to pay some kind of fee up front *Sound The Alarm*!! Avoid any program that requests money from you on the word ‘go’. If a particular program is worth joining then those that run it will offer you a free membership and let the rewards speak for themselves instead of trying to hide anything from you before or when you join. You really need to be alert though as many of these scams make the future sound oh so bright and rosy through very believable and convincing blatant lies. Amongst their deceitful weapons is technical jargon which they often use to confuse people into paying a fee or fees up front.
Actually not joining something that requires any initial payment may be the biggest golden rule to follow to help you avoid being scammed. If you have to pay to join or to get further information about a money making program, chances are high that you are joining a scam to get nobody rich but the people you hand over your hard earned money to. Be careful.
On the other hand, there are some excellent programs that you can sign up for (free of charge) that will make you some extra money and with some self learning, patience and time can even become a good source of income. Among one of the best ways to make cash online is the Google Adsense publisher program, which is worldwide, or Traffic Synergy, which is an affiliate program for South Africans. Another affiliate program worth looking into is Offerforge, I recently joined these guys and already have some pretty impressive commission pending.
Although there are many different angles to approach earning an income online perhaps the biggest key is education. You will give yourself a huge advantage if you take the time to learn a little bit about web design, SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) and targeted marketing. Add to this an awareness of what is happening in the world around us, a pinch of plain old common sense and you have some great ingredients to make money online and become quite successful at it. If you are serious about earning some cash via the Internet then take the above advice and you never need worry about getting scammed by a heartless ‘work from home program’ con artist.

I agree completely !! Working virtually is great but you are right, anything that demands money up front to get more info, etc. is a scam. Great article, thank you !!

I know that there are a lot of scams out there, but just because something has a start up fee does not mean that it is a scam…in my opinion.
Mary Kay requires you to pay $200.00 for your samples and kit. They are not a scam.
Pampered Chef…you spend $150 or so on the tools you need to sell. I guess people think that is ok simply because they have something they can keep.
I just started working with a MLM company that did have a start up fee. I did my research, and found that it was a very good opportunity. I made my money back within the first month working very PT.
I think the best thing is if you know someone that has experience with a company. What have they experienced?
I am a RN-BSN, and I spent thousands of dollars to enable me to do my job. (education), I also have to renew my nursing license every two years for $100.00. Just
because you have to pay that does not mean it is a bad thing.I think the key is to be smart, and don’t jump into anything without really looking through the information.
Thanks,
Holly

Hello Holly
Nice of you to pop in and comment, thank you.
Yes, I hear you and I was a little careful to use words like ‘most work from home programs’ and ‘usually’.
I am not aware of the programs you mention and I suppose I’m writing from more of a South African perspective really where we have an astronomical amount of scamming at play everywhere.
(I am presuming you are in the US).Certainly agree with you on the be smart and don’t jump in point.

I am very wary of scams –sites like these are extremely important warning mechanisms.
I decided to investigate ways “to make money using the Internet”. Being of the older generation (65+!) I decided to do my research before spending ANY money. I also know very little about things like blogs, websites, network marketing, Adsense, Google Adds, Click Bank, SEO, MLM and all these wonderful terms. Being a professionally qualified person myself I realised I needed to find a “professional” course to use as a guide to internet marketing.
My research took me 6 weeks. From forums like this I gained many pointers and advice. Maybe I was just lucky, but amongst all the presentations on the net I found the course I was looking for (don`t ask me how as I don`t always know what I`m doing ?) – with an 8 weeks pay back policy that is genuine (as far I could establish). I was hesitant to spend a the money, especially in these difficult times, but I did it.
I was promised that I would have to WORK HARD, LEARN, AQUIRE SKILLS and if I wanted to make a QUICK BUCK I should get off the course and forget it. I liked the approach.
This is not an e-book but a system. Also you don`t HAVE to spend additional money until you have acquired the skills (your choice). I have just started and already have websites running – provided in the course for free.
Now for the HARD WORK. I know it`s going to take lots of – but I can`t wait for 2009!Jansevan
